Vaishali's POV -
The night felt quieter than usual.
Not heavy.
Not suffocating.
Just... still.
I stood near the window, my fingers lightly holding the edge of the curtain as I stared outside.
The city lights flickered in the distance.
So far.
So different from everything I had known.
A few days ago...
I didn't even know a place like this existed.
And now...
I was here.
In a mansion.
Surrounded by people who treated me like I mattered.
And him...
My chest tightened.
Rudraksh.
The way he spoke.
The way he looked at me.
The way he decided things... like my life was already tied to his.
Marriage.
The word still didn't feel real.
"Still thinking?"
His voice came from behind.
Low.Calm.
But it still made my heart skip.
I turned slowly.
He stood near the door, coat removed, sleeves slightly rolled... his presence filling the entire room without effort.
"I..." I hesitated.
"I don't understand you."
He didn't look surprised.
Instead, he walked toward me.
Slow.Steady.
Every step deliberate.
"You don't have to," he said.
That answer again.
Simple.Too simple.
"That's the problem," I whispered.
He stopped just a step away.
Close enough for me to feel his presence.
Too close.
"You make everything sound easy," I said softly.
"When it's not."
Silence.
His gaze didn't move.
"Marriage..." I continued, my voice dropping slightly, "is not something you just decide alone."
A pause.
Then...
"I didn't decide alone."
I frowned.
"You did."
"No," he said calmly."I decided for us."
My breath caught.
The confidence in his voice...
It wasn't arrogance.
It was certainty.
And that made it harder to fight.
Rudraksh's POV -
She was resisting.Not strongly.
But enough.
And I wasn't someone who forced things blindly.
I moved closer.Slowly.
Watching her reaction.
Her breath changed.
Her fingers tightened slightly.
But she didn't step back.
Good.
"Look at me," I said quietly.
She hesitated... then lifted her eyes.
Fear.Confusion.
Something softer beneath it.
"I'm not asking you to understand everything right now," I said.
"Then what are you asking?" she whispered.
I held her gaze.
"To stay."
Silence.
Her lashes fluttered slightly.
"To trust me enough... to not walk away."
Vaishali's POV -
Trust.
The word hit deeper than anything else.
Because I didn't know how to do that.
Not after everything.
"I don't know how..." I admitted softly."I don't know how to trust... or belong... or... be someone in a place like this."
My voice trembled slightly.
"And what if I fail?"
The question slipped out before I could stop it.
For a second...He didn't answer.
Then his hand lifted slowly.
And gently...
He tucked a strand of hair behind my ear.
The touch was soft.Careful.
But it made my heart race.
"You won't," he said.
"How do you know?" I whispered.
"Because I won't let you."
My breath hitched.
That answer...
It wasn't was something else.
Stronger.
Possessive.
Protective.
And somehow...I didn't hate it.
Rudraksh's POV -
She was breaking.
Not in pain.But in hesitation.
And I knew exactly when to push... and when to soften.
My hand slid down from her hair... to her wrist.
Light grip.Not forceful.
But enough for her to feel it.
"You think too much," I said quietly.
A faint frown appeared on her face.
"That's because you don't think enough," she replied softly.
A small pause.
Then..
For the first time...I almost smiled.
Vaishali's POV-
I don't know what came over me.
Maybe it was the way he looked at me.
Maybe it was the way he stood there... like he wasn't going anywhere.
Or maybe...
I was just tired of fighting everything alone.
My eyes dropped for a second.
Then slowly... I spoke.
"What happens... if I say no?"
Silence.Heavy.Still.
For a moment...I regretted asking.
But then...
His grip on my wrist tightened just slightly.
Not hurting.But firm.
"You won't."
My heart skipped.
"You sound very sure," I whispered.
"I am."
"Why?"
His eyes darkened slightly.
And then..
He stepped closer.
So close that I could feel his breath.
"Because you already stopped wanting to leave."
My breath caught.
Because...He was right.
I didn't realize when my hands lifted.
Or when they reached his shirt.Or when I held onto it slightly.
Like I had done before.
But this time...I didn't pull away.
He noticed.
Of course he did.
His gaze dropped for a second... to my hands.
Then back to my eyes.
Something shifted in his expression.
Slower.Deeper.
His hand moved from my wrist...
To my waist.Resting there.
Steady.
Not rushing.Not forcing.
Just... there.
My heartbeat got louder.
"I'm scared..." I whispered.
"I know."
"I don't understand this..."
"You don't have to."
I looked up at him.
"Then what do I do?"
His voice dropped slightly.
"Stay."
A pause.
Then softer..."With me."
My chest tightened.
Everything inside me felt tangled.
But for the first time...
Not broken.
Just... overwhelmed...Looking at him.
Feeling everything all at once.
Fear.Warmth.Confusion.
And something new.
Something I couldn't name yet.
But I felt it.
Slowly...
My grip on his shirt tightened slightly.
Not out of fear this time.
But choice.
"I..." I hesitated.
His eyes didn't leave mine.
"I'll stay."
Silence.
But it wasn't empty.
It felt... full.
"Is that a yes?" he asked quietly.
My heart raced.
I swallowed softly.
Then...barely above a whisper...
"Yes."
Rudraksh's POV -
That was enough.
I didn't need more.
Didn't need explanations.
Didn't need promises.
Because she said yes.
And that meant...She was mine.
My hand moved slightly, pulling her just a little closer.
Not forceful.But claiming.
"Good," I said softly.
Her breath hitched slightly.
But she didn't move away.
Didn't resist.
Instead...
She stayed.
Exactly where I wanted her.
Author's POV -
Outside...
The night remained quiet.
Unaware.Unchanged.
Inside the mansion...
A promise had been made.
Soft.Uncertain.But real.
And somewhere far away...
A game had already begun.
Even if they didn't know it yet.
